This is Judy Fischer. Karl Millen was married to my mother Mary. She died in 1976. When I saw this picture I had a flashback to the experience my husband and I had sailing with Karl for two months in 1997 from St. Thomas down to Chaguaramas Trinidad. His boat slowly failed as we sailed south. We sailed through the shipping lanes between Grenada and Chaguaramas without a working engine or lights! I remember it being pitch black one night and my husband shining a flashlight on the sails to let another sailboat that was sailing toward us know that we were also in the vicinity. I remember another time when I came up from below in the middle of the night to see a huge freighter crossing ahead of us. We were young and dumb and didn’t realize what we were getting into when we agreed to sail with Karl. But I’m so glad we did. It was the experience of a lifetime! Some of you may remember him. He was one of a kind!
